Farewell Hosem
These posts are getting further and further down the page at Azi, and I just wanted to save them for all to see, as a tribute to one of the kindest people, and most brutal TW players the game has or will ever see!

Hmmmm, actually instead of the listing I was about to make let me say this shortly, Greycastle, Ladyhawk, Icarus, Galactic Overlord, Electrizi'T, Epicenter, Shark, Grizzly, Cowboy, Gypsy, BlackSlayer, Pulsar, Riddler, Budweiser, Hellcat, Torque, Humblehawk, Macahan, TheGuru, Peacemaker, Hekate, Destroyer, Reza, Reisa, MegaHertze, Xerces, WhiteKnight, Ripclaw, Nik, Retaliator, Lancelot, Jr.Samples, Barnhill, Muth, Swtbriar, Spuds, Qbert, Thoral, Wolverine, Ganymede, Eparis, Rose, Astrocreep, Astor, ... etc... Sorry you never ever ever beat my corp. I salute the efforts and skills of you all. It was an honor to play against you. Maverick, Cruncher, you did beat me once, and I did try hard to win, you let me know the new generation was here. Timeband, you were/are the greatest player in history. One day, on a dial-up unix bbs, with 4800 baud modems and the monochrome monitors, I will indeed beat your ass with the helper we created. Be it known: I change the S.S. Channel to 10001, and I hearby park "The Purple Photon Machine" the greatest ISS to ever roam a 5000 sector MBBS universe at Stardock once and for all. See you around Chuck and btw, I told you this page would never catch on Rick.
Now for the responces
Farewell Sweet Anthrax,
;-(..... Miss you already
Of the few "old-timers" I have had the privilage of playing with, you my
friend are the one I will miss the most. I was but a wee lass off for
adventures in telnet games when I first discovered Gypsy's Elite Cafe'.
Oh how I longed to see you all in action. I cannot discribe the thrill I
had when you, Monday & Co. invited me to corp with you on Fament. That and
the '98 Bote game are the ones I recall most fondly. You sent me an e-mail
after the Fament game, which I printed and still have. I would frame it and
hang it on my wall, but no one other than a TW player would understand it's
significance. What an honor it was to have a player of your caliber telling
"me", "it would be a privilage to be on the same corp again some time." I
did have the opportunity to show that e-mail to Guru when he visited once,
and he understood completly!

How can I beat someone I've played once 4 years ago at Stardock?

Its been fun. Thanks for all the hours of terror you single handedly caused.
Once I thought all our corp had to do was kill you to bring you down a few
pegs. Stupid us, you only died when you wanted to. It was a pleasure to log
onto a bbs you were playing to see all that damn destruction by one person.
Here and now I will proclaim I have never seen anyone with the ability to
bring any game of tradewars to an absolute and brutal ending like you could.
I almost felt sorry for your corp on cyberstation during the modem tournmnt.
till you guys wiped us out that last day.
Good luck in the afterlife,

Let me just say it has been both an honor and a pleasure to be a part of
Tradewars with you. I remember all the games like they were yesterday, the
first game I ever played mbbs TW keynet, I had the pleasure of playing you,
along with a group of the stardock players. I was new at the time, and let
me tell you, it was very humbling, but I knew that someday I wanted to be
sitting there right beside you. The first time I was fortunate to actually
play with you was the big finale at stardock, then there were many games at
fament, and then the BOTE. I couldn't have asked for better blues than you
or Chuck, you guys did everything right, and even kept me in check. We aren't
just losing a fellow player, we are losing an icon, a symbol, and a teacher.
You have effected more people in this game than you could imagine, made
nearly everyone of us better players, and you definately have shown me what
the wrong side of a photon looks like. You have my utmost respect as both a
player and a person, and I hope you have a ball doing other things and never
miss this at all.

Quite appropriate that you'd make a return to the TW scene just as Hosem
takes his final bow. Seems that the last and only game we really played
against Hosem was the one at SD where you saved my butt by hopping in and
blowing up Hosem's pod... good thing it wasn't me who got him.. since it
was a corbomite trap :) Been great knowing you Hosem, you have my greatest
respect. Not many of us out there that would rather show what they can do
in the game than mouth off about it in the forums. Good luck in your life,
and just because you've retired doesn't mean you can't come by and post a
comment every now and then.

I don't recall ever beating you, although thanks for the honor. I do remember
that game. I know whenever you were playing a game opposite of me, I was
always on my toes. You brought out the best play in me, whether oppossed or
together. For this, I will alway be thankful. If it had not been for a TW
idol such as yourself coming to play, I don't think I would have played as
hard to give you competion or support when we corped.
With a heavy heart, I bid you farewell sweet Anthrax. Back to your wife and
children you go. Give them all big hugs for me, for allowing me to share you,
if only for a few very memorable games. I would still like a pic of you to
display on my page. (No, you won't break the camera lens) ;)

I'll miss ya Hosem! When I first made my appearence onto Internet Tradewars
almost 2 1/2 years ago back at Stardock BBS, you were the first person I
talked too. (Oh yea, thanks for the 50k you loaned me that game :) I also
'fondly' remember Cruncher, Hekate, and I getting our ass royaly whipped by
you and Gypsy & friends in that game on Rippers. The forums won't seem quite
as bright without your funny quotes.
So, I ask that everyone drink a beer tonight. And when you drink that Beer,
remember the greatest Player/GameOp that ever fired a ptorp.

If you ever decide you want to try it out again, for a day, a week, whatever,
give me a ring, I'll fly with you.

The TW community will miss a great Twarrior.. It was a pleasure
to play with you.. Wish it could have been more then in only
one lone game..
Sad to see you go.. But a human got to do what a human got
to do.. When it's time to close the door and go one with
your life it's time.. Have a great life and don't hesitate
to show your face just to visit.. I know there will be
a lot of people who will be really happy to meet you again
if just for a few..
Regards MacAhan
