| First Name : | Walter |
| When did you start Playing Tradewars : | Not sure, 1993? 1992? I remember it was a Hayes 4800 baud modem on Marvins Late Night direct dial up bbs I think. Had to select the terminal settings and stuff back then. You know, cave man stuff, two cans and a wire etc... |
| How Long have you Played Tradewars : | I have had a few long pauses from the game, I am currently retired. Probably played about 5 years continuous. |
| Alias Used in the Game : | Anthrax by far the most, also; Ghengis Khan, Q, Betty Crocker, Executioner, Sal's Hitman Victor, Jed Clampett, The Cleaner, The Borg, Borg, Ex-Lax, XMAN, Ridulus, Deathlok, Heimdell, Wraith, The Purple People Eater, O0O (that's O, zero, O), Darkseid, and whatever else I have forgotten. |
| How I Choose my Alias : | Anthrax - A friend started it by commenting on my effectiveness in the game we were playing for "killing" people. It stuck as next game our corp used the chemical/biological warfare agents as corp names. After that I just kinda kept it. I would switch to another Alias for the purpose of playing a corp theme, or just to have a little fun. (See Betty Crocker) |
| Are You a Member of any Group in TW : | Nope |
| Helpers / Programs Used : | Was a Twhelp Beta Tester so I always felt kinda compelled to use it. I used it in its many forms. Timeband and I also wrote a helper we never finished. It automated something's that saved time and dbase work. About 30% of all the ship to ship attacking I did was manual. About 99% of the trading, 90% of the evil money making, and 30% of the planet upgrading I utilized helpers for. |

| Best Game / Tournament you ever played in : | Tournament :BBS.Paul.Com , played with Monday, Black Slayer, Reza, Greycastle & Jr. Sample. It was a limited death game. Everyone knew what to do when to do it, no one had to even talk strategy. Grey, Black Slayer, and Reza never made it out of the bubble after like day 3 (They were utilizing like 480 of 500 turns daily making evil cash) Jr. Sample almost handled every single Planet upgrade, and all colonist moving totally by his self, with some small help from Monday maybe on one or two upgrades. I just spent time finding people, and Monday and I just kept everyone else on the defensive. We made more money, killed more people, and had better planets then the entire bbs. We decided to pick Jr. To be the last surviving player as a tribute to his selfless play. Jr. Samples ended the game as the single last player as an EVIL in an ISS! |
| Tournaments ( Major / Minor ) |
This is hard to answer as it
will be taken wrong by someone I am sure, sigh, oh well here goes:
Corps I played on never lost a tournament game in the entire history of
my tradewars playing days. Ever. Although in
December of 1996 Galactic Overlord and Monday's Corp beat my and Astrocreeps
corp in a game I still remember. Wasn't a tourney but it
shoulda been. That was a fun game, Monday, GO and team did an
excellent job, I got a large dose of humble pie.
Tourney's won:
BBS.Paul.com
Injersey.com
Cyberstation.flnet.com (My
first AT&T 14.4 baud Modem, life was good)
Marvinslatenight
Nando.Net
Rockgarden (2000 Free
Hours, still have a few left after pounding Lancelot a.k.a. Jeff
Moriarty into the dirt)
That damn game me and Gypsy
played in where the sysop cheated? What was that?
Battle of the Elite (www.azi.com)
(Dean Ellis says he will send the winners a free copy of TW_ATS, I am
still waiting)
Sasquatchbbs.com
Metro (Yes it was a decent
bbs many years ago)
...and wherever else anyone
remembers.

| Best Corp. you were ever been On : | Hard question. Prolly - Monday, Black Slayer, Reza, Greycastle, & Jr. Samples |
| How you Play Good : | From the mid 90's on it seemed I ended up providing cover for the evils, providing offense, and gathering intel on the opposition. Prior to mid 90's it was building, colonizing and making money. |
| How you Play Evil : | Conserve turns, try not to be seen or detected, and never go to stardock. |
| BBS/Servers that you like the Most: |
1) BBS.Paul.Com (Stardock)
2) Nando.net (everyone was
so nice there, I started there and told them all I didn't know how to
play. Never seen so many people that just wanted to log on and
talk)
3) Cyberstation

| Your feelings on being a player or CEO in games | Last several years I almost HAVE had to be a non CEO. Providing offense dictates you need an ISS, and cross alignment was a fact of the game. You couldn't go around quitting your corp and losing all the stuff to Rogue, or could you boot your teammates so they would log back on to have their old stuff attack them. So, I kept a static password and would quit and rejoin all the time. Kinda nice to carry a rogue limpit when wondering around someone elses backyard too. |
| What influenced your style of play or helped you become the great player that you are | Everyone in the game. Timeband got me to start this game, and forced me to continue it until I enjoyed it. I think that was 5 minutes. |
| Trick or Suggestion can you give to help other TW players: | Make people play your game, know how to count other peoples money by watching their align/exp and estimate their weapons by such. Also build a list of all the home locations of your opposition and never ever go back until you plan to invade. Also, assume everyone that is not on your radio channel is your enemy and assume that at all times. Respect every player especially the ones that are smart enough to kill you online. Also EXP = EGO. Theres something rewarding about people asking for the game to be over because they all agree your team has won. EXP doesn't do that, respect for your assets and your teams ability to use those assets does that |
| Your funniest TW moment or Disaster : | Everytime Monday
Fuses. Hes the only person I know that hates to lose or do something
stupid as much as I do.
|
| Anything else you might want to add : |
Yes I would like to add the
following:
Monday - is the most
underrated player on the planet earth.
Queen - Was the most
underrated evil money maker on the planet earth. Bless her
bbs.infosquare.it heart. I am totally sure she was a babe too.
If anyone has proof she was not a babe please withhold this from me for
the rest of my miserable life.
Reisa - Was one strange
bird. (Not R-E-Z-A please note the spelling difference)
Ladyhawk - Was even more
strange.
Gypsy was right - Jeff
Moriarty was an Ass.
Torque - Where the hell did
you go?
Timeband - Your like
flatulance with no odor. Just a vibration with no purpose.
Hacker - Your the most
underrated duper ever, bah hahahaha only you could understand that,
never have I seen so many ID's accomplish so little.
Nik - Was it a Freudian
thing that caused you to select a user name that rhymed with _____?
HumbleHawk - Your one of the
turds that caused Mike Ingham to put password protection on TWHELP many
moons ago. I hope ants make a nest in your nostrils.
