| First Name : | Tony |
| When did you start Playing Tradewars : | Like so many others, I did the single line BBS when I was a
prepubescent know it all. I went around and traded but nothing with a helper, just
all keystrokes. The game wasn't registered so I guess 200 turns and 1000 sectors didn't take too long to play. I then quit calling BBS's when I
got more involved in high school. So, I suppose I played around 1993 plus or minus a year. |
| How Long have you Played Tradewars : | Minus a break for highschool and some college, I've been playing for
the last year and a half. Currently I'm on a little break just to keep the game fresh when I play. |
| Alias Used in the Game : | Atog is my alias in most games, although I have had other single-game names if our corp has a theme. To finish the WTC, I was "Edward Teach, aka Blackbeard" which I felt was a little pretentious but we won that game so I suppose it's fine. |
| How I Choose my Alias : | Atog is the name of a card from the Magic: the Gathering card game.
It's pretty geeky, but hey I couldn't think of anything better or less geeky at the time so I just went with it. From time to time people ask me if I still play Magic on fedcom, and yes, from time to time I do still play. |
| Are You a Member of any Group in TW ( If Yes , can you play with other teams ) : | No, I have no group. I did play one League game with Attila. So if
anything I belong to the TW League group, but would consider it a loose affiliation at best. For the second part, yes I can play with other teams, I do not believe that the league puts any restrictions on me in that regard. Whether or not I choose to play on a team is completely up to me and the other members on that team. |
| Tournaments ( Major / Minor ) |
I have played in the USO 2000, as well as the WTC 2000. In the
USO, I played with a group of friends from Intergate (River Rat, Kidder,
Banano,Sharkey, and Oso). Everybody quickly died and we really didn't get
going too well with DE killing just about everything left in space. So Kidder and
I faithfully played every night around extern storing all of our assets on
our person or at stardock. We eventually built up a few level 2 planets, but one night at extern my connection flaked out and that was the end of us. Kidder lost her last life and I was unable to continue as a lone red with no assets to rebuild. We had the most fighters for a non-DE corp when we were killed. I also played in the WTC, you can see details about that game on various websites around the net. |
| Name 3-5 players you like to corp with in a game ? | I have enjoyed playing with everyone that I've teamed with. But
perhaps the most special (please do not take offense if I don't list you specifically), are Guardian because he taught me competitive tradewars, Peacemaker because he's an excellent tactician and script think tank partner, and Lady Ice because she's so fun to talk to while she's not threatening to put corbomite on my refurbs. ;) |
| What Playing style do you prefer ( blue/red .. aggressive/passive ) ? | I like playing red in the initial stages of a game and when the blues
get planets going I like switching over to blue to help with organics farming. Aggressive or passive, I really enjoy being passive while writing aggressive attack scripts for me and my corpies to use. I also enjoy the scripting aspect of tradewars. I have really embraced REXX as it's super simple and it has quite a bit of functionality, although I wish it would support arrays. |
| What players influenced your style of playing (mentors/Opponents) | I know everyone already knows that Guardian is the best of the best
when it comes to mentors and teachers, and I am another child of his school. He's been the biggest influence by far, nobody can compare. |
| Helpers / Programs Used : | I use Zoc almost exclusivly. I use TWAR for windows to get my ztm data
and then export it into a file format that I can work with in Zoc. I use my own scripts for almost everything that I do, although I have pulled bits and pieces from other peoples scripts (like some posted on the Home Sector). |
